Week 4

Sorry no updated pics. D put them on a missionary google drive that we don't have the password to?! Go figure. We will try to correct that tomorrow. Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers. He sounds and looks great!

‘Sup fam and friends?

Sorry for the super late email. We didn’t get our p-day until Wednesday. Monday was the holiday and Tuesday we had a General Authority decide to show up for a mission tour on my first week. Talk about some major pressure right off the bat. The GA is in the presidency of the Seventy. His name is President Gerrit W. Gong. He is a super, super, awesome man. He also came to reorganize one of the Stakes up here. He was scooping ice cream for the missionaries after their devotional on Sunday. It was one of the most bizarre things I've ever seen.

My first day, I went out with a missionary named Elder Christiansen. My first lesson I committed an investigator named Jeremy to be baptized. It was awesome. I've been having a great time. Did you know that prayers are answered? I sure do!

My Dad (trainer) is named Elder Lindholm. I'm his third son (trainee). He's been out for about 16 months. We are currently serving in two wards, Lakes and Paradise, on foot. We were both also whitewashed into the Paradise Ward, so we are mainly just going around meeting everyone right now.  Our living situation out here is the best. I'm in an apartment big enough for 4 missionaries, but it's just me and my trainer right now. We have a ton of space. I'm being fed a lot out here, dinner every night. I actually had Wingstop yesterday courtesy of a member dinner. I even had some steak a couple days ago. It’s a good thing I'm in a walking area to burn it all off.

I can't wait to serve here for the next 2 years.

Love you all.

P.S. Something I find funny is that Elder Lindholm kinda looks like my cousin Avery, but way shorter, and he has glasses.

Week 3 (cont.)

Dallin should have his p-day and some updates tomorrow hopefully.

In the meantime, we received a couple of nice surprises late this week. First, social media came through already, and we received a picture of D and his new companion/trainer from a friend of a friend up in Richland, Washington. We also found out from the mission Facebook page that his trainer is awesome and named Elder Lindholm.

Then, we received a letter from D yesterday that appears to be written from his day in the mission home this past week. It is classic D.

'Sup Rexinger Trio, maybe a Duncan too,

I have arrived to Kennewick, Washington. It's really good so far. It isn't cold here at all. It's only like 19 degrees I think. The Mission President is awesome so far, super nice. The other missionaries here are awesome, telling us the lay of the land. Good news, I probably won't have to knock on too many doors of random people. Also, unlike Kiley's mission, I have a car. I won't have to walk too much. Because I have a car though, I have a fear of hitting something (like a cow for example like Dad.) I can already tell I am going to hate that Tiwi box. I can't drive the way I usually would.

The temple here is awesome. It's super small and in the middle of a neighborhood pretty much. I'm used to temples being on like giant hills, but this temple has a neighborhood right behind it. I'm also already meeting people who know about me. This missionary who was going home called me out because she recognized my last name. She said she knew Kiley. He name is Sister Passey. She headed home the day I arrived, literally right after I walked off the plane. I also talked to someone who knew Bishop Franks. The name he gave me to track down is a counselor in the Stake Presidency. I got myself some friends in high places now.

Guess what? Costa Vida is in my mission and I get a 60% discount for being an Elder. They also have Wingstop, the best wings place ever. There are a ton of good places to eat up here. I understand how so many people gain weight here, but I won't, probably maybe.

So, moral of the letter is I'm doing good and I'm really well off. The people so far are awesome and super nice. Love you all. Wish me luck this week.

Dallin

Thank you to everyone for your prayers and support.

Week 3-Dallin arrived in Washington

Dallin arrived to the mission home in Washington on Tuesday! He traveled with nine missionaries, two that were in his MTC district with him that he already knew. We received the message from the office that he arrived safely and that he would be meeting his trainer and transferring to his first area on Wednesday.

Dallin was able to call home from the Salt Lake Airport and talked with Shannon about 10 minutes before he had to go and get some Popeye's chicken strips. Not even joking. Typical D. Anyway, Shannon said he sounded great and was excited to get to Washington. Dallin also called Kiley for a few minutes and surprised her. The rest of us missed out at work or being at school. Oh well, such is life sometimes.

We were waiting to see is Dallin could send us any updates or pics from his first area this week, but it looks like his p-day in his mission is on Mondays.

More to come asap. Keep him and his training companion in your prayers for us as he transitions to the "real" mission.

Week 2

Dear Friends and Family,

What is up my people??? Although I might not be able to answer each of you right away, know that I care about you. That's something I've come to learn from my time at the MTC so far, caring for everyone I come across. I never knew how little time was needed to truly care about someone. I literally spent 30 minutes talking/teaching a TRC investigator and wanted to give her the biggest hug ever. Don't worry, I didn't!

Things have been going really well here at the MTC. I'm really enjoying myself here.

In other news, I'm getting my haircut from the MTC barbershop really soon and I'm really nervous about it. Gotta remember, 6 on top, 2 on the sides...thanks to my sister Kiley.

I only have a week left at the MTC. I am almost out in the field. I can't wait to get out there and serve.

Love, Elder Rexinger

P.S.

Here is a picture of a bunch of stuff my family here in Utah keeps sending me. I set up a little display on my dest in class. I'm now known as the Candyman.

I also ran into Elder Hansen again from our ward back home.
