Week 52

Dear Family and Friends,

This week has been fun. I went to a 5 hour meeting on Friday! After being called as a District Leader, I went up to Kennewick and took part in a new leadership meeting. It was great, and I was able to see a couple of missionaries I had served around in the past. The meeting was also really insightful. As a district leader, we call the other missionaries in our stewardships and check up on them, their goals, people they're teaching, as well as their well-being. It's awesome to be in a position to help other missionaries out.

We recently visited a family of members that haven't been to church for a while named the Wintertons. They have 6 kids and the oldest is about to turn 9. They are the coolest! I'm really good with kids, and they have a lot of them. I love their family so much. Their oldest also hasn't been baptized yet. We're hoping to start teaching him, so he can be baptized in the near future.

I love it here in Hermiston. It's a total blast. The people here are awesome. Even the people at the gas stations are starting to recognize and talk to us. I'm going to miss this place when I eventually leave. Wherever I serve though, I know there are people there for me to get to know and love. It's happened in all of my areas so far, so why would it stop now?

I love this Church. I love this Gospel, which is the The Church and Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Love you all as well.

Week 51

What's Up Friends And Family!?

I got a call yesterday at around 4:45 pm today, and I'm going to be staying in Hermiston for another transfer. Elder Steele, one of our current Assistants, also told me that I'm going to be called as the Hermiston District Leader. Elders Springer and Eastham are both being taken out and are being replaced by another set of Hermanas (Spanish language sister missionaries). My district is myself and Elder Skinner (3 transfers together!) and 2 sets of Hermanas. I'm looking forward to seeing how things go in the future. I've never been in an area this long. Six months is a long time to be in one place.

Another funny thing happened this week. For whatever reason, Elder Springer and Elder Eastham really wanted to get a model of their hands in wax. They proceeded to buy a ton of wax, melted it, then kept dumping their hands in boiling hot wax in order to have their hand models. They kept screaming in pain and yelling about it. I decided to try it out because why not? If anyone knows me, enough said. I dumped my hand in the wax, and I gave no reaction to it. It was hot and all, but not bad enough to make me scream or anything like that. I think their pride was a little bruised when I did that, but it was funny.

We've been doing pretty good with our people too. We have their trust, and we're gonna be making a push to teach and baptize them soon. Shanna is doing pretty good, and she is all set up to have a job for Uber. That is awesome for her. A couple of our people have been sick, like the Jon’s family. We haven't been by to teach them for a while, but we enlisted a member family to contact and fellowship them.

That’s about it for this week. I am excited for this challenge of serving as District Leader and that I get to continue to work with the people here in Hermiston.

Thank you for the support and prayers. The Gospel is true.

Week 50

Dear Family and Friends,

Sorry about not sending an e-mail last week. With it being a holiday, all the libraries were closed. I don't really like typing up my weekly email using my phone, so I just didn't write one. Selfish reason for not emailing I know, but that was my thought process.

Transfers are soon upon us! Next week we find out where each of us go. Wherever the Lord sends me is where I'll go (or stay) and be happy about it. It's been fun here in Hermiston. There are lots of good people, and the members are pretty cool. I've gotten to the point that the members keep pointing out that I've been here in Hermiston for a while. It's all good.

Our people we are teaching are doing alright. There isn’t anything too big going on right now. We did have someone named Patsy on date, but when she came to church yesterday, she decided to keep looking at different churches. She told us she'd check in with us next month. Who knows? She may get back on date next month. We've still been helping out with Shanna and helping her clean her house and get stuff in order. It's been fun seeing the progress and difference that has been made so far.

I love my mission, and I love the Gospel. I am excited to see how things turn out next week.

Thank you for the prayers and support. The Gospel is true.

Week 49

Dallin forgot or was not able to send an e-mail update due to the New Year holiday and change in p-day schedule last week. We talked with him via the Hangouts app like usual since he has his smartphone. He is doing well and working hard in Hermiston. We did receive this picture for your amusement.

Thank you for the prayers and support.

I guess this was an interesting picture opportunity.
